    Smith and Wesson Model 39-2

i have limited myself to obtaining firearms that a) don't need a stinkin "bullet button" and b) don't hold more than ten rounds as their original design intended. i know it sounds weird, but (maybe some kind of ocd thing) i can't handle owning a firearm in any kind of neutered state, it would just drive me nuts. that being said i've been looking into 9mm handguns. at first, i wanted a browning hi-power but then i found out how much they cost (and that they originally held more than ten rounds). so, i stumbled upon the smith and wesson model 39-2 - its a single stack! carries 8 rounds! also, they were given to seals in 'nam! i love seals! gonna try to pick me one up asap - anyone know how much they go for these days? they aren't made anymore right? if anybody out there wants to sell me one, let me know

the 39-2 is an excellent handgun. You won't regret picking one up. It shouldn't be too hard to find one in the bay area for a reasonable price. Mine is my favorite 9mm in the safe.
    It's too late, it's over.

In the meantime, pick up it's 3rd gen ancestor if you can find one....the 3913...same capacity but a little sleaker design....

Here's a love fest thread on it from the Smith forum....

This 3913NL is my favorite 9mm carry gun. Slim, accurate, and totally reliable. The NL-suffixed guns indicate that they were made without the "Ladysmith" logo, to better suit us red-blooded males who like the little gun with its sloped dust cover, but don't want to have to explain the logo...

and check out a little history on the 39 mods that led to the 3913...

        Love my 39-2.

I don't know where you will be able to find one in state and in good condition. Keep an eye on the for sale forum maybe. Good luck.

They pop up from time to time in the used gun cases. Gotta be quick though. If the price/condition is decent they go quick.

Hemmed & hawed over a pristine nickel plated one & it was gone in a matter of a few days.

There was two here locally several months ago. They had one for $450 at warrior one and one for at Centerfire $500.
