    New S&W M27?? M41??

OK I was just thumbing through a week-old copy of Western Outdoor News, and there is an article on the Safari Club International show on page 3. It states that S&W is reintroducing the M27 "Highway Patrolman" .357 revo, and a 50th anniversary M41 .22 pistol (limited to 500 units).

We all know that the Highway Patrolman was the M28....typo maybe?? Could this be an M27 with the "Highway Patrolman" designation??

Anyone think S&W will seek CA approval??

These appear to be cataloged guns and not short runs for Lew Horton, Lipsey's or Camfour (distributors).

I handled the 27 at SHOT. BEAUTIFUL. Also, the one I handled was an 8 shot.

In multiple conversations over the past couple of years, S&W says they generally go for CA-approval of any production handgun, and quite a few PC guns.

Probably a typo. Frankly, their modern "blue" finishes look like the old utilitarian finishes of the Model 28.

For my money, S&W's new Nickel-finish guns are about the most outstanding examples of the genre. I plan on picking up a few.

It's nice to see positive talk of the new Smiths. Jeez, if anybody brings up their new guns on the S&W forums, the conversation always seems to turn to the lock. Gets very tiring. Am curious to see what the new 27 looks like.

As I've said before, I think the new S&W's will help us a great deal; they ought to either 1) depress sale prices of existing 27's or 2) the lock-haters will stay away in droves and that'll keep the retail price low.

          Either way, we win.

Somebody posted pictures of the new 27 on the S&W forums, along with the new 24 and 25. They look really nice though not cheap with a MSRP of $1,000+ for the 27. Almost get through the first page when the lock haters eventually chime in.
