When I got my PX4, I just did a basic field strip and cleaning with gun oil (Hoppe's). Shot it about 300-400 rounds. Then I fully detailed stripped it and thoroughly cleaned every part, then Frog Lubed per instructions (heat, apply, dry, wipe).

I basically do this with every pistol. I tend to break it in using regular gun oil, then a full detail strip cleaning and FL.

Check your book.. Some factories reccomended using the lube from factory for break in. I've only purchased one gun new so I wouldn't really know but a used gun I always break down and inspect and then lube the way I like.

        Shoot it...

        Then clean it.

Nobody reads manuals either. I went to get my gun out of jail and the guy is like "read the manual" and I'm like "I already did" and he gave me a look like that was the first time he had heard that in his 10 years working there.
