I just cleaned my 1911 last night and just used Frog Lube... this seems a little over the top -
Seems a little overboard with the mineral water, but I guess if you wanted to do more a deep clean you could use that method.
I dont do anything significantly different when cleaning my 1911 versus my other handguns.
But considering everyone has different ways they like to clean their gun, just come up with a routine that satisfyes you and stick with it.Comment

That's way more in depth than how I clean my 1911. You can do it that way if you like, but that's not really necessary. I spray the whole inside of my gun with Ballistol, let it soak for a bit, then wipe it out by hand. Scrub the barrel, lube the pistol, and I'm done.
I think the cleaning method in that video would be good for a detail clean every once in a while.Originally posted by KestryllAnd that boys and girls is what stepping on your own dick sounds like.Comment

I do not. That said, perhaps Im not tactical enough to use mineral spirits for cleaning a pistol which runs fine unlubed and filthy.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L4fpm...hannel&list=UL

The more subsidies you have, the less self reliant people will be.

I've always wanted to try that. I assume since you still do it, it works quite well.Originally posted by jessegpresleyI dunk mine in an L&R ultrasonic if I want to clean it down to the bone.Originally posted by KestryllAnd that boys and girls is what stepping on your own dick sounds like.Comment

The mineral spirits is a great initial cleaner , it cleans the packing goo off which has raised issues during range time for some . After the first complete strip ,clean it the way you would any other pistol. Also run it wet . ( lube ) for the first 500.Comment

The video title needs to add "This is how you clean your Rock Island Armory pistol, when you first take it out of the plastic bag of grease it came in."

Everything in that vid just seems wrong. My RIA came soaked in oil but I just detailed stripped the whole thing and cleaned everything with CLP as well as polished some random parts before putting everything back together and lubing in the usual places. Done.Comment

I would like to know what you guys use to clean and oil your 1911, I use CLP or Hops elite on my Glock, how will this work on a 1911, I am sure it doesn't work any different on ether firearm.Comment
