Need help deciding G17 Sevigny Carry Sights

I'm a little confused as to which size I should get: either .215 or .245.
People use point of impact and 6 o' clock hold to mean different things so I would like to know from someone that has these sights.

I'm looking for Sevigny carry tritium sights that will do #2

I just went through the same thing when I was looking for sights for my Glock 17.

I highly recommend you check out Dawson Precision.

He has some very useful information on the subject matter.

If you were to order from them...they ask you to pick the rear sights first...then it directs you to the height of the front sights you should get.

I also love their policy--if you buy dawson made sights...and you need another one because the first set didn't work out for you...then the next set or sight (rear or front) is 50% off.

I can't say enough of that company.

At what distance? What load? A sight that has the #2 POA/POI @ 10yds may be upwards of 6" high at 25yds (depending on the load).

I have the .215" front on my GEN 4 G17, and it shoots POA/POI out to 15yds, but it's a few inches high at 25yds. If you're really worried about it, just buy from Dawson Precision. Get the Sevigny rear, and a DP front. They will exchange their front sights until the POI is where you want it. I eventually had to go with a DP .255 front for my G20SF that I shoot in USPSA Limited. All my other Glocks have the .215 front though.

Based on my experience with Sevigny sights on a GEN 4 G17, 124gr mild to +P loads & the .215 front, I'd suggest buying a Sevigny rear and a .245 DP front. Then go test out your POI at 35yds, and use the DP front sight calculation to correct any difference in your desired POI. With my G20SF, I used the calculation to go from high POI with the .215 @ 25yds, to the correct POI with a .255 front. Once I tested my loads, and used the calculation, it gave me the perfect height front sight on the first try. Good luck.

I have 3 G17's, a G34 and a G17L. They all use the .215" front. Going taller will push the POI lower. Load is 125 Bear Creek, 1.155" OAL, on top of 4 grains of Titegroup, going about 1,180 fps. POA is 40 yards. You want sight picture number 2 (POA/POI) regardless of distance. If you going to shoot to 75 yards, just raise it up a little. Most Glocks will run POA/POI except for the .45acp and 10mm. I had .245" fronts on both of mine.

On my old G34 my carry tritium's were .215 and had a Sight Image 2.
My opinions are my own and do not represent the position of other companies I may be involved with.

Okay thanks everyone. I think i'm gonna get .215. I don't mind if it's a little off at long distance because of bullet drop. It's simpler if I learn where to hold for those shots.

I still recommend buying a DP front either way. If you buy the Sevigny set with the .215, and it isn't what you want it to be, you'll have to buy another $30-$40 front sight over and over until you get it where you want it. It's not really a one size fits all kind of deal. The same gun can have different POI for different people, and not all guns (even the same model) will have the same POI with the same sights. Have fun, I absolutely love Sevigny sights on Glocks.

                    That load can't be making 147PF through a G17, I'm guessing you meant 1080fps (135PF)?
