    .22 9-1/2" barrel

Has anybody here had experience with a long barrel .22 pistol, either LR or magnum? I know Ruger makes one, I think SW does too.

Do you like it or Is the barrel too long, in your experience?

lots of 8 1/2", 9 1/2", 10" options. Heritage Rough Rider, Buckmark, Challenger, Target versions of S&W 41, Mark II, Ruger single 10, amongst many others.

Each are different. For example, the thin barrel profile of 9 1/2" Rough rider is very light compared to Ruger MK II w/ 10" steel bull barrel. Long barreled TacSol aluminum barrels for Ruger and browning will be lighter than both.

You may have to handle a few to see what's suitable for your purposes. For example light weight barrels move fast and get on target fast but doesn't hold as steady for bullseye work. A 10" steel bull barrel will be very steady shooting supported (if you have a little strength for it) but will fatigue you after a while. The alluminum barrels will not fatigue you but may take you longer to steady on a bullsey (great for steal but for me a heavier weight is preferred for bullseye work on paper).

Others may have different opinions and will sound up but this is based upon my experiences, strengths, weaknesses, etc.

For most uses I like a medium weight similar to what you would expect from the 9 1/2" Rough Rider or Ruger Single 10.

I had a 91/2 Ruger Single-Six back around 1984. It was extremely accurate ( or I was back then ). It really loved .22 Magnums. I would definitely get another if I was looking for a long barreled Revolver.

You've pretty much talked me into it.
