Sterling .380 question

My cousin just called me with a question about his sterling .380 his father left him after recently passing away. His mom gave him the .380 along with 100 rounds of .38 and 100 rounds of 9mm. The .38 is a revolver ammo and .380 is fr semi auto pistol (if I'm correct). The question is can you use the .38 ammo out of a .380? According to his mom that was the only gun my cousins dad has owned, no revolvers or a 9. This might sound like a dumb question but can you shoot a 9mm out of a .380?

Haha that's what I was thinking. Well that gun hasn't been used in over 20 years. My cousin recently cleaned it up. It's probably a good idea to have it checked out by a gunsmith and make sure it's going to be safe to shoot.

Only 380acp ammo can be used.Your uncle must have more guns somewhere.380 is 9x17mm and 9mm is 9x19mm[.355].9mm makarov is 9x18mm but it is a little bit bigger diameter then the rest[.363].38 special is .357 diameter.
