    Under 21 Question

Ok, I have searched this to death and haven't found anything so here it goes.

I am not 21, but I hold a HSC. I understand that I cannot legally purchase a handgun, but I may own it if my parents or grandparents want to give me one. That got me wondering what "purchase" means. I was under the impression purchase was buying from a liscensed dealer. Since I am not 21, I cannot do this.

Am I right in thinking that a person under 21, holding a HSC, cannot PPT a handgun from a non-immediate relative? What if the handgun is a C&R? Could I purchase a C&R handgun from a non-liscensed individual? Is there any way to own a handgun if your under 21 but possess a HSC besides being given one from your grandparents or parents?

No you can't buy PPT from a non-family member even if it is C&R as both those transactions have to go through an 01 FFL. You can only get one from mother/father/grandmother/grandfather. Otherwise you will have to wait

Or spouse. If you were 18 and married to a 21+ person they could gift on to you in the same sense.

See you're getting caught up on the word 'buy' and that's not the important part. You are only allowed to obtain a pistol through an interfamily transfer. Nothing else. Doesn't matter if an FFL is involved or not (like for C&R handguns in other states), it's interfamily transfers only.

Okay thanks for the help guys. I couldn't find anything on C&R handguns but all my questions were answered.

My dad changes his mind daily on whether he will buy a handgun and gift it to me. Chances are I'll just have to wait till I am 21.
