Help with rust on a barrel

i dont know what my friend did, but his CZ-75b has rust on the barrel, at least 20% of the outside of the barrel has rust.
He says he only didnt use it for about 2 months.
I guess he had moisture/water reach it, and Im sure he didnt clean it before he stored it.
I had to YELL at him.

Anyways, how can I best clean this?
    Any special products?
I currently have hoppes #9 solvent and oil but i have a feeling thats not gonna be enogh....

    Thanks in advance

You can use Flitz Polish or Brownells Bore Bright for the interior and exterior of the barrel.

    Problem solved.

I used a scotch-brite pad and CLP to get it off my friend's Kimber barrel.

Teach your friend to whipe his pistol down with a silicone gun cloth after shooting/cleaning it Machined surfaces need a coating of oil/protectant of some sort.

Is it an older model? CZ's do have a protective coating on the barrels exteriors.

After the rust is gone tell him to try Eezox. Good stuff.

Tell him he is unqualified to care for his CZ and should sell it to you for cheap.

You can even grant him visitation rights, if you want.

... I need to check on mine, haven't touched it for like a month but guessing it should be fine since I cleaned it before shoving it into my 30cal ammo box

I used a penny to scratch off the rust using gun oil as a lubricant. I learned it from an old gun post somewhere and it worked great. Only cost 1 cent (and some lube....uh, not that kind, lol).

                              Go buy a new sponge

Buy some eezox and some hoppes 9

Use the hops to break it up a little with the sponge..

Then get a rag and put a good amount of eezox and put a nice thick coat of it on there and let it sit and soak in should fix it right up... Eezox is wonders but do it out side because the smell it ooo wee strong..

Look up eezox and their testimonials on their site amazing potent stuff.
