    Springfield XD trigger issues

I just got back from shooting with some friends and One of them owns a Springfield XD .40 that we have only taken out a few times. The trigger seems to be a big issue. Its extremely spongy and when one of my friends was shooting today he pulled the trigger completely, Let the trigger out then the gun fired. Is this a problem with these guns? Is there something we can do to make the trigger better?

Spongy is normal on most poly duty style guns. If its firing on the reset, it needs to go back to springfield.

so after talking to him he said that it fired after pulling and holding the trigger. Like it was a very long delay.

Sounds like a hangfire.. which had nothing to do with him "holding the trigger"..

As an aside, why would he be "holding" the trigger?

By holding, I assume you mean he pulled the trigger and just kept the pressure on to continue holding it back, with allowing it forward to re-set.

My main two handguns are an XD9, which is a decade old (first year they were released) and an XD40 SC. I've never had any issues with either gun and there are a lot of rounds through both. This is the second XD "malfunction thread in as many days. Kind of odd.. Obviously any manufacturer can turn out a lemon that has some kind of mechanical issue, but you don't hear of these things often with XDs..

I wasn't watching when it happened so im only going off what i was told. From what he said He pulled the trigger and kept it pulled for an abnormal amount of time before it fired. On a side note the owner does not like this gun. He is extremely disappointed with it.

Delay fire from a primer issue? That sounds damn close to an impossible issue.

Yeah im not sure how it would happen unless the striker pin got stuck. I was just wondering if this is an issue that would be fixed with it being broken in.

I doubt that would be it.

What is there not to buy? I was shooting in the Bay right next to them when it happened. Both the friend shooting and my other friend watching told me the same thing.

I think they buy that it happened, but they're not buying that it was caused by the XD trigger.
