Which HD pistol? Ruger P89 vs S&W 5903TSW

Hello, I recently acquired an S&W 5903TSW PD return...and I gotta say, I am liking this pistol quite a bit.

Now I already have my shotgun and AR/Mini14 semi-ready to go, but in the meantime for a nightstand pistol, which would be a better go-to gun? Given they both have equal capacity, both are using Federal HST 9mm loads, and equal proficiency between the two.

Which would you use as your HD nightstand pistol, and why?

The 5903TSW. The rail means you can run an attached light on the weapon, and it'll work till kingdom come.
The more prohibitions you have, the less virtuous people will be.
The more subsidies you have, the less self reliant people will be.

If you like it, and you are proficient with it...use it.

I'm going to not answer your specific question/poll and instead suggest you need a wheel gun. Mine always goes bang when I pull the trigger

i have a wheelgun. it's not quite suitable for HD though...Ruger GP100 6". Kind of big and long

plus .38spl and .357 is too expensive to practice with...i mostly only use 9mm to keep it simple and cheap. the rest are range toys/fun

My vote is for the P89. Mine is 19 years old, and never a single issue. I would bet it will outlast the Smith.

Ya that's why I went 4". The ammo cost is also why I have a Glock 17 in jail. Time will tell if it replaces the wheel gun as a primary home defense weapon
