I'm planning on buying a Beretta 96 from a co-worker but we are not sure if he is the registered owner of the gun. The gun was a gift from a close family friend when he lived in Florida, and he didn't do any registration when he got here. I have the serial # Anybody have any idea what I should do as far as trying to find this guns owner??? Thanks

Ok here's what I know; as long as the gun hasn't been listed as stolen or reported lost in a commission of a crime - you're good to go. The state DOJ doesn't particularly care where or whom the gun comes from, as long as it comes back clean. They (as far as I know) don't do any sort of background check on the previous ownership. They're primarily concerned with where it's going and to whom it's going to. As long as the receiving party meets all requirements for lawful ownership, you're good to go.
Heck previous to 91 or 92 private parties could sell firearms without going through a dealer; there's a heck of a lot of 'un-papered' guns out there with no documentation of original ownership./Chris
I have a perfect Burning Man attendance record: zero.
You do know there are more guns in the country than there are in the city.

Yeah I kinda see what you're talking about, and the current Florida gun laws does not require anyone to register any firearm.Comment
