Range time with SA 1911 Milspec

All accessories came today. Crimson Laser Grip and lots of Wilson Mags. No hammer bite at all. I fired 200 rounds of Federal 230 grain FMJ and my defense ammo which is the Winchester PDX1 230 grain HP. Distance was all 10 yards because there is no fun at 7 yards haha. All fed great no FTF/FTE on Wilson Combat 8 round mags. I don't feel I am under fire 8+1 with the .45 We are may anyway at 10 rounds. I was getting tired by the end of the range trip. As for the Crimson Laser, I think it was zero'd at 50 feet from the factory. I changed that to 10 yards and I think that's a reasonable range for HD. 16 yards is way too far if you are shooting with the laser.

Laser is helpful. Point and shoot. A good way to train to because I could see the laser moving when aiming at the target. I prefer iron sights but can't go wrong with a back up laser for target acquisition.

Did you make a conscious decision to go with the bob-tail CTCs, or did it just happen?

I zero my pistol lasers at 25, because that's about the farthest I can quickly see the dot in daylight. I figure the farther out you can zero them, the better, since on anything beyond your zero range the dot will be way off.

I hope the target is hanging up where someone can see it when they break in.

I have two of those Springfield Mil-Specs. S/S and Parked. Put a Wilson single spring guide in them and just that alone improves accuracy. Did a couple of other things also but, that's a secret. IMHO the laser grips are "neat" as for having fun. But, for home defense, you will not have time to look for where that laser dot is being applied to on the aggressor. Pistol defense at 30' is plenty of time to turn it on aim and shoot when the bad guy (you think) is threatening you with your life. Later you find out it was your neighbor busting in to tell you your house is on fire while you were asleep as your bedroom is in the back of the house. Now he is dead and you, well you were half asleep and not fully aware what was going on. "Uh-Oh!" "But, officer...." Anyway, you have a cool laser on that 1911 and have fun showing it off at the range. I know I can be a butthead but, proper pistol training can be in ones favor.
