Question For Sig 220 Owners

I just bought a Sig 220 DA/SA pistol and when I pull back the slide with my right hand it is impossible to push up the slide catch with my thumb of the same hand while holding the slide back. It seems like the catch is too small. Is there some trick to this that I don't know about? Any suggestions from you experienced folks will sure be appreciated.

My 220 had really stiff controls until I got a few hundred rounds through it. Give it time, shoot it and enjoy it. She'll wear in perfectly

Does the slide lock back on an empty mag without any issues?

Thats funny, I just had a similar issue on a different model Sig just now.

The slide does lock back with the mag out without a problem. It seems like the slide catch lever is too small and too flat. .

I thought I read recently that one of the services Sig was going to offer in the future was to offer an extended slide catch lever. If so they must be aware of the problem. But what do I do in the meantime?

Are you lining up the slide catch with the notch on the slide? Sometimes when I pull my slide all the way back, it isn't lined up with the notch and I have to let it go forward just a bit.

Throw an empty mag in it, and pull the slide back and it will lock open. Just get it broken in. I do agree the mag catch is a little small but i dont seem to have any trouble with it.

Hmmm......functionality with a loaded gun? Or functionality with an empty one? I prefer a smaller slide release because the last thing I want is for me to push it up while firing or accidentally release the slide after the last round. I too have difficulty opening the slide while it's empty and it simply doesn't bother me because it works so well while firing.

Yeah, the slide stop is small and flat. Takes practice but you'll get it. Also, after a few hundred rds the slide spring will loosen and it will be easier to hold the slide back to engage the slide stop.

I'm sorry, maybe I'm reading your 1st post wrong, but I'm a bit confused
First, you're pulling the slide back with your right hand, meaning the gun is in your left, correct?
Why are you using the slide stop? To lock the slide open, or to have the slide go forward?
Most people will pull back the slide with one hand and use their other hand to manipulate the slide lock.
