Kimber Ultra Carry II, just over 800 MSRP:

I have the Ultra CDP II and it's great. But then again, borrow, rent, shoot, see what's best for you.

Aside from dependability, sufficient stopping power and a gun you can shoot well it should be a gun you don't mind losing forever (or getting back in neglected and terrible condition) if you have to use it. I think some folks overlook this aspect.

I don't mean that we should (legally of course) carry RGs or Windicators or Jennings but I personally would not carry my 1950s Cobra or 1980s Detonics or any number of wonderful little guns.

i heard of the police doing that , but if you have a registered HG then theres no point in throwing it away. it will come back to haunt you

...I think he meant that is will become evidence and will be in police custody for a long time if not forever...

My "mis - speak". I wasn't proposing someone should ditch their gun after using it. Only that having been called the local PD would arrive on scene and take the gun, either for a while having it bounce around some humid evidence room or forever. Never to be returned to its rightful owner.

                      I'd say a 640 J frame w/+p JHP's. That's just me though. I have a 642 and it's a great shooter. If you want to spend more $$$ and get a fancy 911 knock yourself out.
