    CCW Question?

After reading a thread at THR, http://thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=335032 I was wondering?

If a tribal chief or chief of police of a tribe in California offers or approves of a CCW. Then wouldn't the proper issuance from a CA Police Chief, even a tribal chief in CA, represent a CA CCW that would/should be honored throughout the state?

If he can legitimately issue, then the rest of the state will honor it. I'm just not personally clear on his issuance authority.

I'm not so sure about this. When you're in a reservation, you're technically not in the USA. You're in a tribal nation. You also need to get your CCW from the city you reside in. Check with the DOJ.

Sounds like a grey area to me...
I do know that I couldn't carry while off duty at a reservaton.
I also know that when I attended a LEO firearms school the tribe mandated a babby sitter from the local reservation PD watch us at all times... Nothing like respect is there.

An FFL Dealer on Indian land and a nice little shooting range on Indian land would be a great set up. We could have our ARs & such sent there, but I presume we'd have to leave them there, correct?

And couldn't an Indian FFL receive and sell all those non - rostered handguns which could later be PPT'd and taken with us?

We need our own version of Indian gambling - Indian FFLs.

I thought that you needed to get your CCW in the county that you resided in?

            I'd better search that.

Indian FFL's are an interesting idea, but I'm guessing that they wouldn't want to risk generating any ire out there in the public and government that might endanger the casino gig.

I'm pretty dang sure that reading the Penal Code section will show that only CA County Sheriffs and Chiefs of Police of incorporated CA cities can issue...

That would be County or City. A resident of Oakland can not go to Union City to get a permit, only Alameda CO SO or Oakland PD.

They can issue them, but their authority stops right at the property line of their land and that's exactly how far the CCW would be valid.

They can do anything they want on their land, but it would be 100% illegal to import those guns into Kali. The reservations are technically not in the state.

The last time I was at the Hopland Sho Ko Wah Casino, myself and a friend were kicked out because we had pocket knives.
