Trigger on an XD

Has anyone out there installed an aftermarket trigger on their XD? Or has anyone had a trigger job done on an XD? I went to the range yesterday and fired 3 different pistols back to back (my XD, a Glock 17, and a Kimber) and I noticed that my trigger felt sloppy compared to the others. I know Kimber's and 1911's in general have a far better trigger. But even the Glock felt smoother with less slop and a better reset. I'm just wondering if I should spend the time and money to fix it. I love the gun and want to shoot it more, and buying a new gun with a better trigger is just not in the cards yet.

I had a PRP Ultimate Match Trigger kit on an XDM. Had it to do over, I would have went with Springer Precision, but both are viable options.

I installed a PRP trigger kit 2 years ago and really like it. Easy to install. Both springer and PRP are great companies with quality products

Powder River Precision for me as well, more than anything it reduced the reset by half at least.

What I didn't care for in the PRP kit was the integral overtravel stop. The kit from Springer Precision reduced overtravel with internal components.

I had ray at iron sights in oceanside do a trigger job on mine. took it to 2lbs and minimal reset, any shorter would be too short and it fires better than any other gun i have tried. also he does it for under 80 bucks. much worth it.

Now did any of you install the triggers your selves or did you have a gunsmith do it? Minus of course Gigglemonkee who had a trigger job done at the shop, I do like the $80 price but I live in the bay area and the drive would not make it worth it. But thank you all for your input.

The PRP kit I had required minor fitting, especially the integral overtravel stop on the trigger, but nothing worth writing home about. If I'm not mistaken, PRP has an instructional video on the fitment.

I have a powder river kit too. It's a major improvement over the stock trigger.

Good improvement, but for the cost, I expected better results. Owning a 1911 jades your perception of what a good trigger should be when dealing with Polymer pistols.

i did mine myself. I do know that both guys are excellent in helping you over the phone when you are doing a self install job.

I have the PRP Drop-In Kit for both my XD45 and XDM 9mm. Good improvement over stock. Much shorter pull, no overtravel, very short reset, and about 2-3lbs lighter. Very satisfied and no smithing or filing necessary. Drop in and shoot. Took me less than half hour each for all parts in each gun.

I've installed both Powder River and Springer Precision, my personal opinion is for Springer. Great kits and gives you an awesome outcome.

+1.........comparing other triggers to a tuned 1911 is apples to watermelon but it just natural to compare them together.

Op, do you barely shoot the xd. If so just so you know the trig smooths out as you shoot more.
