new purchase help

I live in the sacramento area and I am looking at purchasing a handgun.
I want to keep it under $600.

Ideally i will be using it for 3 gun shoots or action shoots out in Sac Valley.

Should i purchase a 9mm, .40 or a .45 auto.

I have been looking at full metal guns, refurb sigs and new rock islands mainly

love some input and thoughts.

9mm if you don't reload 45 if you do 40 if you don't know. But every one will say there opinion on gun but really its about what you can train most with and shoot best

9mm is cheap but I like bigger is better and go 45 which would be my M&P 45 or my AK pistol.

If you are talking about shooting competition, you need to start figuring out what division, or even what sport to help narrow it down.

i have shot them all

what would be the best caliber for beginning 3 gun or action shooting
i have auto shotgun, an AR and 3 gun looked like something i would really enjoy.
i have shot all calibers, i have no preference.

I am newb who is starting out, that being stated, i dont want to just by a 9mm because the ammo is cheaper and the recoil is less, i have access to a .22 for that.

If it's your first handgun, I advise you to get a 9mm. You'll be doing a lot of shooting for practice or for pure trigger-happiness. This caliber will be more economical.
