    Springfield EMP accuracy issues

My EMP (9mm) recently began having accuracy issues.

The first few cold shots are right on, but as soon as it warms up it shoots left @ 2inches. Let it cool down and same thing, first few great, after that crap. At first I thought it was me, but I immediate picked up my kimber ultra carry II (.45) and repeatedly blasted the X.

Tried different ammo (PMC, federal, blazer brass, etc) same result. Have @ 2000 rounds downrange.

Please forgive me (and redirect) if I
am posting in the wrong place as this is my first post on calguns.

    Thanks
    Sorry, not sorry.

I think it's worth calling SA customer service just to see what they say.

Thanks Twiggz, I was planning on doing that tomorrow since my range session ended so late. I appreciate the suggestion. 👍

7-15 yards. Was about 2 in. off at 7 and more at 15. I didn't even bother going beyond the 15 yard mark.

Man, do I feel stupid😝. Just went to clean it and give it a once over, and noticed that the set screw for the rear sight had fallen out💤. Called Springfield and they have a new one on the way.

Thanks for your suggestions and comments. Please don't hold my stupidity against me. Hahaha.

I am 99.99% sure it is you and not the gun. You are shooting well with he first few shots because it is a genuine surprise break. After a few shots you know where the break is and start flinching.

Where are you located? If you are near Concord we can meet up and I can give you some help.

The sight radius on the EMP is very short but that should be a one hole gun at 15 yards.

Hi Sammy, thanks for the offer.

Unfortunately my current schedule makes it difficult to plan anything. Usually I have about 10 minutes notice that I have some free time and go to the range on very short notice, plus I live a couple of hours south of concord and getting away for that length of time and distance is not an option.

Also, per my last post, with the set screw missing from the rear sight it would be impossible to shoot accurately anyway. After I fix it (probably coupla weeks) I'll post some pics from the range.

I do appreciate the offer though.
                Sorry, not sorry.

And, it is (was) a one hole gun well beyond 15 yards prior to the set screw thing, and will be again. I do feel kinda stupid not checking the rear sight screw though!😚
                  Sorry, not sorry.

I currently don't own an EMP, but have shot two (one for a couple of hundred rounds) and liked both of them a lot---I might own one in the future---neat little pistol!

jyo, I really like mine, and would recommend it. My friends and co workers who have had the chance to fire it are envious. Shoots all the FMJ ammo I have tried, regardless of brand. I don't fire steel/alum cases ammo at all.

                      The only problems I have had are;

1: grip screw broke and needed to be replaced.
2: rear sight set screw worked itself out and I lost it. (Waiting for replacement now).

SA cust serv has been great!

Am now thInking about trying to find an ultra compact SA 1911 in .45 that is legal here in our 2A challenged state.
                      Sorry, not sorry.

Most of the further discussion beyond the clear concise answer is usually people just trying to convince others that the Penal Code/Case Law doesn't really apply because their uncle's friend's cousin's son-in-law works as a gardener for a retired judge from another state who might or might not have said he doesn't think it applies to a certain case that has absolutely nothing to do with the question the OP asked.

Hey don't feel to bad $#it happens. I was shooting my SA 45 1 time all of a sudden I noticed I started shooting to the right, the more I shot the worse it got finally after the third mag I looked at my front sight to see that it was just about to fall off. I thought my eyes were going bad but found that it was just a simple problem to fix.

Try it off a bench and see if you can replicate the issues. Sometimes with the smaller guns it is easy to pull it without knowing it.

                              SonofWWIIDI,
Glad you got her figured out, don't sweat the loose screw issue's we've all had them, mine was the rear screw on the top rail on my Sig556, I kept adjusting the ACOG all the way up at the range
Wanted to share with you my tac driver EMP40, had SACS trick her out and by far the most accurate gun I've ever shot;[IMG][/IMG]

This is 12yds two mags, I thought I was missing the target untill I realized most shots were going through the center hole ;[IMG][/IMG]

Keep your EMP, they are awesome little guns, there is a EMP thread on the 1911 forum, good reading.

                              Cheers!
