    327 private messages.

I looked up at my private messages and saw that I had 327 messages. So, I got interested in the .327 federal magnum. What do you guys think about this caliber? How powerful is it compared to a .357?

.327 is too rare unless you handload IMHO...

I think you got your lines crossed bubba. What you need is a 1969 Chevy Corvette with a 327ci all-aluminum ZL1...

Except the ZL1 was an all aluminum 427.

Six rounds versus five in the SP101, eight rounds versus six in the Blackhawk and seven rounds versus six in the GP100. The ammo is not usually stocked by gunshops, but is readily available online. Not as cheap to shoot as .38 Special, but still close enough and fun. For plinking .32 S&W Long or .32 H&R Magnum also work.

I have shot the .327 and found it to be a great round. We were shooting from a Ruger SP 101.

Some reviews have even compared it very favorably with the .357. I still prefer my .357 but would not hesitate to own a .327.

As others have said, ammo availability other than ordering online sucks. But... if you're willing to reload, then it's another story. Smaller case capacity (you get more loadings from a 1lb can of powder) & bullets makes it less expensive than .357 mag, with just about the same terminal ballistics.

I was already reloading and shooting .32 H&R mag from an Ruger SP101 and a S&W 16-4. It wasn't much of a leap to .327 Federal for me, I sent my 16-4 to Clements Custom and had the cylinder reamed to elongate the chambers to the .327 round. I like the flexibility that gave me as I can shoot everything from .32acp to .327 Federal out of it.

It's one of those niche cartridges just like the .41 Mag, you either love it or hate it, and ammo availability sucks.

Personally, I like having stuff that is not part of the herd.
