    Sig 226 9mm mags?

My Sig P226 Stainless Elite gets out of the pokey on 8/7. Any recommendations on mags or good places to buy from. I notice they want like $40 at some places for the Sig brand. The Mec Car, or whatever they are called, are cheaper but are they any good?

By the way, yes is SSE. I just saw the post that Sig forgot to renew the CA safe list for some of the p226 models? That reminded me I needed to buy mags. I can't defend myself with only 2 mags right?

I will post a range report after my first session.

Definitely get the Mecgar mags! They used to be the OEM for Sig's magazines until they changed their supplier. They're 100 times better than today's stock Sig mags.

I agree with the others, Mecgar are great. I picked up some through Bigsupplyshop.com for pretty cheap a while back.

I have both mec-gar and the oem checkmate mags. Both have worked fine and flawlessly. I run both through uspsa matches and drop them in dirt and they still run great. I'd say try out the oem mags first before buying more. If you want more mags in general I think the mec-gars run cheaper around the web.

I used Sig factory mags with my 226's when used them on duty. 15 and 20 rounders. The VERY best magazines I have for my 226's are NAVY contract,Mecgar Sig marked green color magazines with solid bodies. There were made to take real abuse.

+2 for Mec-Gars from Greg Cote. These are MUCH better magazines than the Sig factory ones, plus they are half the price.

                          Another vote for Mecgar.

Note, that M9/92FS mags can be used. You'll need to dremel a new magazine release hole on the mags but it'll work fine.
