LC9 headaches UPDATE #4(in first post) negative one for ruger.

I would like to start buy saying i love this gun, and find the trigger to be just fine.

I broke it out of jail on 6/21/12. only have had a chance to shoot less then 75 rounds, and the front sight started to come off, so I call and they send me a new slide, customer service was GREAT,

New slide comes, front sight is pinned. Put the new slide on hand cycle afew mags, every thing is great.

Wile getting ready to head to the range I clear the gun and the extractor flies off.

Just got off the phone with Ruger. Talked to the same person as last time(really cool). I explained that this gun is for protection and it has failed me twice and this is not acceptable for a gun that I a have to trust my life to. The Ruger rep got slightly rude and insisted the the front sight falling of isn't a failure( i said it failed me) and that the extractor flying of was no biggie, it just wasn't fit right(no biggie right?). At this point I am getting annoyed with there nonchalant attitude about two pieces of what is my night stand gun and will be my carry gun. At this point I explain i need to be able trust my life and my wife's life with this gun and can no longer do that. and the rep asks what i want to do, I ask if there is any way to exchange the gun as it is my third Ruger and would like to continue giving them my business, they say okay. Then starts going through the proses of getting me a shipping label to send the whole gun to them for repair

Guess i will wait and see. If(read when) they send it back I will run 5-600 rounds through it and see if we can work out our differences.

Any one else have something fly off there lc9 besides the front sight,

Heres where you tell me I should of bought a glock/1911.

SEE LAST POST( I don't know what I am yelling about)

NEW UPDATE( YES I AM YELLING)
Well, at the last update I told you I was getting a sr9c at no cost and was happy. A few days later I called Ruger CS to set up shipping and what not, and that is when they told me I would have to pay the difference in the price of the lc9 and sr9c and the LGS( same one I got the lemon from) would not work with me on the transfer fee. So my out the door price would be $115(plus tax I assume) just to get a working firearm.

Ruger was polite and helpful all wile having the opinion that all the problems I have had are no big deal and that making things right is making me pay more money to have a working handgun. That is not making it right, they refuse to lose 40 bucks( the price difference in the two guns) to make a long time customer happy and that pisses me off on principle alone.

So I decided to put a few hundred rounds through this little guy and see if i can trust it and not loose money or swallow pride. So I went to the range this morning and the range was perfect, only one other person testing reloads and a ton of shoot-n-see targets with plenty of life left in them already set up.

25 rounds in the gun goes click not bang on the second to last round, no primer strike mark at all, this was my first time using tula so I switched to fed bulk, same problem, switch to Hornady custom same thing. By this time more people had shown up and a girl pointed her rifle at me head, it was time to call it a day,

As I see it I have two choices #1 ask ruger to send me a p95 and request a check for the difference in price(seems fair to me) #2 tell them they owe me the full msrp price of the gun and if they would ever like to sell me a sp101 they can give me my dros and tax back as well.

As much of a Ruger fan as i am that LC9 isn't looking like a great buy, i keep hearing reports like this from owners and that doesn't sit well with me at all. When LA gets shell issue i might look at keltec and not the LC9 (has to be American made).

Good luck and i hope Rugers gets it fixed for ya.....

Every thing is made worse by the M&P shield being on the roster now, not that i could get one any time soon.

You do understand that if they are willing to give you a new gun, that they will have to ship it to an FFL and you will have to re-DROS it as it will have a different serial #. Unlikely they will pay for the new DROS fees.

so what you're saying is if a get a different gun not only will it have a different serial number than the gun i have now, but i will also have to have it sent to a FFL and do a whole new DROS ?

HUH who would have thought two different guns would have two different serial numbers AND in CA I cant just get a new gun shipped to my door.

I'm not gunna pay 25 bucks just to get a gun i feel safe using, that's just silly.

Trigger was not a problem for me, i have emptied a lot of spray paint cans in my lifetime so maybe my trigger finger is trained for a long heavy pull,

loved every thing about it till it started spitting out parts.

Damn. I picked one up recently, my first Ruger, getting ready to hit the range with it this weekend. Needless to say, your report of these issues has me worried. Well, if it does fail me, at least they will take care of it, but I did buy it for a carry gun and hearing stuff like that makes me really nervous about actually trusting my life to it. Although it could just be a fluke. I had massive problems with my Bersa Thunder and people were telling me I was crazy about not trusting it and that their guns were perfect and 100% reliable.

Hopefully the replacement is not a dud.

That is correct. I had a catastrophic failure of a Ruger Super Blackhawk and while Ruger replaced it with a new gun, it had to ship to an FFL and I had to pay to DROS it.

The problem for me is that the store that sold it to me was out of business and other gunshops wanted to charge me a $100 transfer fee along with the DROS. The good thing was finding out who the crappy gunshops were and I'll never spend another penny with some that I'd done considerable business with in the past.

Dang, sucks to hear this. The LC9 was on my short list for a subcompact pistol. Ah well, xd9sc, nano, or S&W shield it is.

I like the LC9..it's just not the gun for me so I'm selling it. On mine the rear site came loose. I tightened it up no problem. The front site on mine is already pinned.

Other than that, no problems. Great carry gun...very light and easy to conceal.
