Thoughts on the Sig Pro 2022 9mm

The thing that draws me to it is the DA/SA trigger.

I'd like to know the thoughts of those who own or have owned, the good bad and ugly.

Thanks in advance for the feed back.

Its been good to me. In 9mm it has low recoil but its going to be more than a heavier gun. The trigger is something that gets better with time. The only part I replaced was the guide rod. Went from the polymer to a stainless steel. With mine, I did it for a reason. The Polymer one was getting all chewed up.

In the 1900 rounds put through it I think it stovepiped once. Other then that, no malfunctions and it eats whatever ammo I throw at it.

Takedown is different then every other Sig. Once you get used to it, it becomes second nature. You have to pop out the pin that holds the slide catch and it lets the slide come off. Better in my opinion then the takedown on striker fired weapons.
    My Guns:

    Hi-Point Carbine 9mm | Bushnell TRS-25 Red Dot |Magpul BUIS 45 degree offset - 140 rounds

I don't own one, but I have heard it has a fantastic DA trigger straight out of the box. I have not heard any bad things or reviews that I remember. My guess is that you will hear a lot of people raving about it, especially for it's price tag.

Outstanding pistol at a beyond outstanding price. The SP2022 will hold its own against any modern SD auto on the market - for the same cost as a less reputable weapon.

I own 2. One for the wife & one for me.

The wife's. 100% reliable out of the box with a variety of handloads & commercial HP. Accurate. I was thrilled at what I got for $400-ish. I bought the wife four extra mags and she would burn ammo till it was too hot to touch! The trigger on hers was not really great out of the box. I was wondering why everybody raved about 'em. It was OK but creepy & gritty. After a few range trips, cleanings and several hundred rounds whatever burr that was hanging things up wore off & voila! Beautiful trigger, considering. Mounted a SIG laser on it and I wouldn't like a zombie's chances at 25 yards.

Mine. Great trigger out of the box. 100% reliable. Noticably less accurate than the wife's and shoots a couple inches lower than hers at 15 yards. Inspection showed the front sight was different from the wife's. SIG sent me a new front sight. Also found that the barrel has some pretty nasty tool marks (gouges, actually) on the rifling lands. Haven't gotten around to doing anything about it. I hardly ever shoot 9mm. Pretty sure SIG would send me a new barrel.

Fantastic gun for the price and well worth it. I have 9mm, love it so much.

                500 rounds and still going.

I don't know if you have shopped around yet, but riflegear.com has the best price I have seen on them. $389.00 on sale. Your choice of 9mm or .40.

Thanks for your reply, a LGS has a sale pretty much like Rifle Gear coming up. That's why I'm trying to do my home work.

Cool, I don't know where LGS is, but Riflegear is in Fountain Valley also. In case location may play a factor for you.

Yup DGM has them on sale right now. I bought mine 3 years ago and have about 1500 rds through it with zero issues. Love mine.

The SP2022 was the first Sig I owned, and the grip length is what made me sell it. It is a great gun, but rather muzzle-heavy IIRC. And re: the grip, part of my palm hung off the bottom edge of it, making it feel weird to hold.

Again, I've never heard these points brought up before, so it's probably a case of me just being spoiled by full-size handguns (i.e. CZ75B). The trigger (both DA and SA) are superb, and the quality of the SP2022 was immaculate.
And on the third day, God created the Remington bolt-action rifle so that man could fight the dinosaurs. And the homosexuals.

Have one, and I like it - can't beat the price.

Granted I'm a newbie, and I can only compare to the PX4 & H&K USP that I have, but the Sig has a kinda "bounce" after the trigger is pulled. Not really noticeable in actual fire, but with dry firing once the trigger strikes, there is a slight reverberation in the gun. Not so w/ my other two 9mm's that are rock solid.
