Sold one Ruger only to pick up another

Well I was cruising the WTB threads and see a local guy looking for a SR9. I happen to have one I don't shoot, wouldn't mind selling, and need to free up some space in the safe anyway. So we meet, do the transfer, and while checking out the display I see something that catches my eye. Rugers new SP101 in .22lr. Didn't know they had brought it back, this time with a legit set of sights and a pretty solid feel to it. I left the shop and spent the rest of the day dwelling on it. Well sure enough I head back there and buy the sucker. $399 for a brand new Ruger sp101 in .22lr. I get back home and see that the MSRP is $640. I know the reviews have been mixed on this one but it seems like I got a deal. Can't wait to shoot it.
So looks like that space I freed in the safe is only gonna last a few days.

Does anybody have one of these? Any thoughts on it? Sounds like they definitely benefit from a decent trigger job.

Nice! I was looking at one recently too. The trigger job is a bit of a fine line, though. If you lighten the pull by much, you start running into reliability issues. Rimfire is known for being a bit unreliable in regards to ignition, which is the reason for the heavy pull on the sp101. It's heavy enough to hit with a force that promotes reliable ignition.

$399!!! You got a smokin deal, they are about $549 in So Cal, on sale. Great gun, but I found the grips to be a tad small/awkward for my taste so I put on the larger Houge finger groove grips. Congrats!

I've heard good things about the Ruger .22 on the SP101 frame.

Also, about 15 years ago, S&W had a model 317, 2 inch, 8 round 22 with an alloy cylinder. It used a bodyguard type hammer without the shroud. DA trigger pull was about 16 pounds -- stated reason was to assure ignition of the rimfire. They were touting it as a lightweight defense gun.
