    Range Report - Independence .38spl

Just returned from the morning at Burro Canyon. Had fun with the new Ruger MkIII 22/45 and spent some time trying out ammo with the .38.

I was shooting Independence .38spl, 130 grn. FMJ. from my Ruger GP 100 with 4" barrel. Total rounds shot was 86. I shot at about 7 yards and again at about 25 yds. The lot # is P10T500.

At both distances I found the rounds shot low. When I adjusted the sight picture to shoot high I tended to be on target. Perhaps it was just the day for me, but I was often left, right or missing completely, something I RARELY do at those distances. The recoil is negligible from these rounds from my GP 100.

I was not happy with this ammo, one reason I did not shoot the entire 2 boxes is to try them again later to see if I was just having an off day.

As of now I will not buy any more of this ammo.

BTW, the new Ruger 22/45 is spot on an accurate little piece!
