Moving from AR to CA

I have an SKS with 20 rd detachable magazine and a Hi Point 9mm compact. Just wondering what I have to do to bring these with me. I probably can't bring the SKS to Cali I guess.

"SKS with a detachable magazine" is specifically banned:

12276. As used in this chapter, "assault weapon" shall mean the
following designated semiautomatic firearms:
(a) All of the following specified rifles:
(1) All AK series including, but not limited to, the models
identified as follows:
(A) Made in China AK, AKM, AKS, AK47, AK47S, 56, 56S, 84S, and
86S.
(B) Norinco 56, 56S, 84S, and 86S.
(C) Poly Technologies AKS and AK47.
(D) MAADI AK47 and ARM.
(2) UZI and Galil.
(3) Beretta AR-70.
(4) CETME Sporter.
(5) Colt AR-15 series.
(6) Daewoo K-1, K-2, Max 1, Max 2, AR 100, and AR 110C.
(7) Fabrique Nationale FAL, LAR, FNC, 308 Match, and Sporter.
(8) MAS 223.
(9) HK-91, HK-93, HK-94, and HK-PSG-1.
(10) The following MAC types:
(A) RPB Industries Inc. sM10 and sM11.
(B) SWD Incorporated M11.
(11) SKS with detachable magazine.

ETA - I assume a fixed 10rd mag on the SKS would be fine.

Reinstall the original fixed 10rd magazine on your SKS.

[If your SKS is a Chinese/Norinco SKS that was sold to take AK mags,
that's a different animal and you should not bring this gun into CA.]

The HiPoint carbine would be regarded as an AW (semiauto centerfire rifle that has a pistol grip) - however, it would be legal if a mag lock were used to configure with with nontdetachable (fixed) 10 round magazine. A nondetachable fixed mag requires a tool for its removal per regulatory code.

You can't bring in hicap mags into CA, and semiauto centerfire rifles having fixed mags holding over 10rds are AWs.

He said 9mm compact, I think he means the handgun. If so he would need to fill out the registration form and pay the $19 fee.

well as standard of living goes, CA's economy & landscape is much better than AR. But CA is probably the most anti-gun state in the U.S.

so it all come down to what you want in life, if you want to come to the smog infused, high cost of living but very diverse night life of CA while giving up your guns then be my guest.

Sell the SKS and use the money for a OLL lower other then this advice. MAY GOD HELP YOU. And who knows Arizona and Nevada may be the new Beach front after Kali's big one.

AR as in Arkansas?

Several posts have said Arizona, which is AZ. AR is Arkansas by the post office, right?

Doesn't actually matter much to the asnwers, I suppose.
