    Question about my P226R

I was cleaning my P226R (Manf 09/17/2011 - 500 Rounds) and I noticed two marks. One was on the underside of the slide ad the other was on top of the trigger lever. I've looked at the weapon for possible causes. It appears that the marks are being caused by the trigger lever and the slide making contact. Forgive me if the terms used are not correct as I'm very new to gun ownership. I've been told that this is a 'normal' wear area on the 'newer' sigs and to maybe place some grease on the area to possibly remedy it. Any advice anyone can provide would be of great assistance.

    Thanks.

I don't know sig specifically, but many semi-auto pistols work in much the same way. If you're talking about wear near the U shaped cutout on the slide, and the corresponding element in the trigger assembly, then it is quite normal. The U notch allows the disconnector to rise up when the slide is fully forward, and as the slide moves back, the U notch pushes the disconnector down. It's metal rubbing on metal, and there will always be a little wear. lubrication can minimize it, as can polishing the parts that make contact. If you are getting deep cuts, that could be a sharp edge on the disconnector, but if the wear is just taking a little bit of the finish off the slide, it should be fine, they will polish themselves.

              blockfort:

Thanks for the response - it is in-front of the 'u' cut into the slide in first picture. I was told that it appeared to be normal.

Thanks for the tip but it's too much fun to shoot. I just got over the barrel not looking new.

You should (in my opinion) be able to take apart and re-assemble your entire gun, and to know exactly what every part does and how they interact. It can help you diagnose and fix problems, and will help you get the best performance and reliability. It's also fun, and will only help you appreciate your gun even more.

It is the disconnector which is operated by the cycling of the slide. Some wear is normal. Just keep it lubed.

Sigs like to be run wet with a heavy grease for normal (not snow) CA weather.

I use "heavy" slide glide which is about $10 on amazon.

                    Lube it like this:

The wear you're describing is normal. Nothing to worry about.
