S&W Model 29-10 "Classic"

Been thinking of buying the new S&W Model 29-10 44 mag now that it's listed on the DOJ list... Just got to get over some the things I like about the old Model 29s, like the great high polish bluing. So, I'm looking for feedback on the new Model 29. I'm done waiting for a CA PPT on an old Model 29-2.

I've heard about subtle things with the new Model 29s like non-pinned barrel and recessed cylinder (?), timing issues, but I'm not sure if these are real/valid issues or just reasonable cost-saving things that make no difference. And the bluing just is not the same and according to Doug Turnbull it takes some serious $ to re-blue and polish to the old S&W high gloss/polished finish.

Also, I see a Model 29-8 is also listed... anyone heard of this model?

Ignore the collector's status on old 629s. They're really not that much better.

Comparing my old late 80s 686 to the new 686s, I'll take the new ones - lock and all.

I just got a new 329PD w/4" barrel and love it put 50 rounds thru it so far and no problems, have not seen or tryed the 29 yet. Only thing I don't like on the 329 is the blade on the rear sight is a little loose so I guess I'll put some blue locktight on it to tighten it. Otherwise it's fun to shoot, recoil is not that bad.
