    Probably already asked

Sorry way more people that probably know what the rules are in this forum.

This might have been asked already. I tried to search but nothing came up. So here it goes.

For proof of California residency an ID and a utility bill will work but do they have to have the same address?

I havent updated my id and want to buy a handgun.

Also will my credit score be part of the decision if I get approval from the DOJ? All I have on my record is a DUI.

I'm not too sure how strict things are now but if someone has some insight that would be great. Thank You !!

Ok thank you I figured that. Will a print out of my utility bill work? Since I get it emailed to me?

They should have the same address -- but, some shops will accept a mis-match. Your ID proves who you are; your utility bill proves CA residency.

Credit score doesn't factor in (unless you're financing the purchase)

The DUI might be a problem. Recently CADOJ has been putting a delay on DROS's where an arrest record is found; they delay because they want to see what the resolution of the charges was.

In your situation, I would suggest you send in a PFEC (Personal Firearms Eligibility Check) to see if you're good to go.

My driver license didn't have my current address for a while and it was never a showstopper. I just warned the dealers up front and showed them my car registration which does have the correct address.

A couple times they forgot midway through and ended up putting the wrong on the address on the DROS, so I'd have to catch them and correct it.

Best to just get your ID updated and avoid future hassles.

Having gone through a delay, what little jake said is 100% true. They will put a delay on, because of your arrest & from what I heard they will take their sweet time looking it up themselves! As soon as I got delayed because of an arrest 20 years ago I faxed them all the paperwork I had (luckily I held onto it for that long) called them almost everyday, went to the sheriffs dept & payed $10 for a print out of the resolution, called more to talk to them. I always thanked them for their time & help and 8 days after my delay I was approved.

Man I was just in the same boat with Mis matching DL and current addresses. My DL has my mons address for car insurance reasons and car is at dads address, so 3 possible totals!!!!
I asked my mom to sign a lease at her address notarized and matching the DL address. Got my gun that day after proving residency. It was such a hassle. But now I have proof for 6 years if I need it!!
