Chaos Rex, that thing is gorgeous! I have an SA which I love, but it sure isn't any of the 1911s I handle at work like Nighthawk, Kimber, Dan Wesson, and Les Baer. Just holding and charging a top tier 1911 you can feel the difference.

You should try Nighthawk.

That was my first 1911 after contemplating for so long. Now I am bummed everything I try another 1911. I should have started with RIA or SA mil-spec.

That is one clean 1911. Nice first pistol. Mine was a full rail TRP.

I had a choice when I purchased my 1911, a Colt Series 70 or an Ithica. The Colt was black with all the "extras" replaced with SS. Looked like a pimps gun, but it was a Colt.

The Ithica was used, had pitting, pretty plane jane, but had "Property Of U.S. Government" on the side.

Ran one mag through each, the Ithica had a better grouping. Bought it. It is my favorite pistol. Looking to buy a RIA so I can keep the Ithica in the safe.

I have a Wilson Combat CQB with factory add ons, Les Baer customized by John Harrison, another stock Les Baer super tack, a TRP, and a Springfield Pro on the way.

Surprisingly my TRP has 40k+ rounds in it and has only gone through 2 firing pin stops both replaced free by SA. I have had to re-tension the extractor and thats it. I would agree that for a production gun its one of the best choices. Its my "beater" 1911 in my line up and I still love it just as much. Its not pretty on the inside and has tooling marks with galling in the Stainless Steel metal but its cosmetic. If you got a regular carbon steel gun and not stainless I am sure it would be even better in terms of cosmetics.

A Dan Wesson was almost my first 1911. Unfortunately the deal fell through.

I next set my sights on the Colt Rail Gun. Ever since my Beretta PX4 I just feel that a gun without a rail is incomplete. The Rail Gun wasn't on "the list" so I looked around a bit more and found the SA Operator. I can't stand two tone but then found the TRP. I'd set my sights on that but the LB came along.

At that point I'd been doing my research on 1911s. When the TRP Operators were showing up they were pretty expensive and not in my area. But the LB showed up and I talked with the seller a bit and had just gotten a copy of Shotgun Times with an article on Les Baer and the Premier II. The price was right and who can deny the quality of a Les Baer?

After I got the Premier II I called the shop and asked if they could fit their Recon frame to my Premier II slide but they said they wouldn't.

I would like a Nighthawk and I'm still in looking for an SA TRP or Custom Operator. I don't see any of those guns in my immediate future but I'm sure I'll have them someday.
