    XD needs help...

I'm not too sure what happened here but i would like to have my Springfield XD 357 sig looked at by a decent smith in So.Cal.

Last time i was at the range it functioned flawlessly as usual. Took it home, cleaned it up and put it away. I went to range last night to try out my new 9mm conversion barrel. Put in a mag, chambered a round, aimed and pulled the trigger only to hear a click, but no bang. I hate that =\ . So after some time, i dropped the mag, cleared the round and saw the primer was struck by the pin.

I thought it was fitment issues with the new 9mm barrel so i went and swapped back to the factory .357sig barrel...same thing....

So yea...i'm glad I brought my new Sig out as well...

Hard primer? What ammo were you using?

I don't know XDs, but they are striker fired like glocks so here is a common diagnosis. If you get any lube in the firing pin/striker channel it can prevent the free movement of the striker and cause light hits. Even if you don't lube the channel directly, excess lube from nearby can migrate into the channel.

I had a problem with a glock I bought used and Fiocchi ammo. After cleaning out the channel and leaving it dry I haven't had a problem.
If it was a snake, it would have bit me.

You didn't put oil in that little hole below the channel did you?

No, I did not directly oil the pin / striker area, but did lube the rails which i suppose could have traveled down into that area, but i dont not recall using an excess amount.

It may be wise to have it just cleaned up anyways.

BTW: The ammo being used was your standard Wallyworld WWB. Around here I can only shoot FMJ at the ranges, so I just normally pick the WWB's up before i hit the range. It's never had a problem feeding or firing the stuff before.

Next week i'll post this up on the HS2000talk.com message board.

            Thank guys!

Is it possible that the striker retaining pin is broken and somehow affecting the function of the striker? If it is, give SA a call and they will send you one free of charge.
