Quick DROS / 30day question

I just started DROS on a used gun I ordered from out of state.
Within that period of DROS and thirty days, can I do a PPT - face-to-face and buy another gun? I would assume it's okay, because not long ago I bought two-guns, PPT, on the same day.

The 30-day rule only applies to new purchases through a dealer, right? Or, at least, to any NON PPT transaction.

Yes u can PPT, but you can not buy new or have another gun shipped in

If you buy from an FFL, the rule is 1 handgun in 30 days.

If you buy from, say, Gun Broker - an interstate transfer - effectively you are buying from an FFL, so 1 handgun in 30 days.

If you buy from another California resident, using a CA FFL because the law requires it, there is no limit -- EXCEPT in the city of Los Angeles, that has its own 1-in-30 law for handguns.

Another confusing part for some is "consignment sales" at a local FFL. It may appear that you are purchasing directly from the FFL, but they are treated as "PPT's" even though you never meet the original owner/seller and are exempt from the normal 1 in 30 rule. The seller has already filled out his portion of the PPT paperwork and the gun is sitting on the dealers shelf waiting for a buyer to come along.

Technically you can have another gun shipped in provided your FFL is okay with storing it until your previous 30 day window is over and you can DROS the stored gun. Stacking guns is quite common, especially with availability issues, but most shops prefer you buy them locally to "stack". Check with your local FFL and see what they will do for you.

Good point. Despite the popularity of finding and buying via the web, there is still some real value in hitting the gun stores and seeing what's there. I've seen some really nice off-roster guns in the consignment shelves. Sometimes, for ridiculously low prices.
