hmmmm....those look nice. I like the 1911 angle on those frames. My only complaint about glocks always has been the bulky grip angles on them.

From the last time this was brought up, it is because the frames are not complete handguns and can't go through the CA drop test.

I never thought of it that way. I suppose you could say its THE safest handgun since it isn't even able to chamber a round!

The manufacturer would have to create a fully functional model of pistol so that it could be submitted to a CA DOJ approved laboratory for testing. Passing that it would be eligible for inclusion on the roster of handguns certified for sale. If not we can't have them.

Not only that, but starting in July of 2008, all out of state dealers must get some sort of number or approval for shipping into California.
If I can remember where I read that, I will add a link.
But many dealers have now said they are not going to ship to Calif. because of this. Just another hurdle that CA is making for dealers and manufacturers to jump through!
And another gun shop told me that they have to start collecting sales tax for guns you buy out of state, because they consider the out of state dealer shipping to your dealer (what the state requires, by the way) to then be an instate transaction out of your dealers shop (even though the gun was never legitimately transferred to him, but in your name) and therefore subject to state sales tax. Myself, I believe this really is taxing interstate sales in a round about way!

I wonder if you could technically specify it as a "repair" part for your damaged Glock "whatever model" so long as it's a 1:1 exchange. That would be an interesting aspect to look into. After all, what would you do if you had to send out for repair some non-approved legacy pistol that required a new frame? It would still be a Glock "whatever" when it came back with the original serial number on the replacement frame, right? The same might be said of an "assault weapon" whose receiver was damaged beyond repair. The law says that you cannot possess, mfg etc but says nothing about repair. If CCF Race Frames are approved gunsmiths then I don't see why you couldn't send your Glock to them (or their approved 'smith) for repairs.

I like your thinking. I too have been wondering about this. You send an aftermarket company your frame and they send you their frame with the same serial number. Not sure if they would even do this but it would be great if it was possible.

You are right it is still a Glock.

Ive wanted one of those for awhile now. Would make the perfect base for a race gun....but one can only hope.
