HK USP 45 Stainless

I would like to buy a HK USP 45 Stainless but not sure if it's CA compliant. I checked the DOJ list and only found the Steel version listed. The HK Compact USP 45 Stainless is listed though. Anyone out there own this gun here in CA? Can it be registered w/o having to do the SSE thing? Final question...WHY DOES THIS HAVE TO BE SO CONFUSING?

If it's not on the list, you can't buy it new unless through one of the various exemptions. You can buy it from another CA resident via PPT. It's not confusing if you read the various Calgun Wikis or stickies on this site.
