Does anyone know of a .357 mag in semi-auto? Who makes/made it and if it still available. I don't mean the new .357 sig I mean the tried and true .357 mag. Didn't Dan Weson make one?

The no longer made Coonan Arms... if you can find one. They don't turn up on the secondary market very often.
There are a couple of posters here who, IIRC, have them or could at least speak in depth. I've only seen one in a display case, never handled or fired one.
+1 on a Desert Eagle.

I have a Coonan 357 Magnum - full sized Model B. Got a very good deal on it. Pretty well made for the time and most parts interchange or are same in function as a stock 1911. Trigger is different and the grip is much wider. Magazines are a problem, cost about $150.00 per.GOA Member & SAF Life MemberComment

Love the Coonan. Got to play with one in the early 80's, and fell in love with the handful of bang. Was too strapped then to afford one....and still am today

Desert Eagle is quite nice, I had one in the late 80s early 90s and sold it because it wouldn't work with lead bullets. Silly me, the gas action did not like the lead stuff. It has to be jacketed or at least no exposed lead at the base. The 357 Sig should be approaching 357 Mag loads, if you want more power get the 9x25 Dillon and you surpass the 357 Mag level.

AutoMag?
Yes, the Dirty Harry 44 Automag. I was also offered in 357 Auto Mag Pistol (AMP). In fact, there were matched sets sold in 44/357, with both bbls and mags for each caliber.
I don't think they are currently produced... There have been several companies selling pistols under the AutoMag name.sigpicNRA Life MemberComment

No. They are both .44AMP and .357AMP rimless cartridges and different from conventional .44Mag or .357Mag.Comment

I have a Desert Eagle in .44 and soon .50AE and it is very controllable in .44 Mag. But it is heavy, 4lbs I think. If you can shoot a .45 you can easily work with a .44 DE. I imagine the .357 would be a real breeze to shoot - but do keep these things in mind:
It is heavy
It is not the most reliable of guns
It is picky with ammo
It is not fun to clean at all
It is expensive
But it sure is fun as hell. You never hear the phrase eaten dead.Comment
