Why is it called the SHIELD? Did Phil Coulson carry one?

Not for a while, I'm still waiting on a M&P 22 which went on roster last month.

Now I wonder how much influence was pushed for the manual safety: passing CA's stupid "safety" req's or giving appendix-carry people more piece of mind.
Yellowfin: The 2A in its true intent of what it protects can be summed up in one word: parity. Self defense means self defense from ANYTHING, and parity is being on level playing field with whatever threat may be.

I had a chance to shoot the .40 last week. I really liked it, I thought it was easier to control than my sub compact xd .40 and it's cheaper. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the thumb safety. I think it would only take some practice to get used to it though.

I have been looking for a compact 9mm and like the Kahr PM9, but the price is pretty high. The M&P looks great and is a pricepoint I like!

The product number on the DOJ list doesn't check with the readily available Shield or S&W web site. The one approved might be a bastardized version to pass the tests. We should know in the next few days...

I think that the safety design makes the safety worthless but the manual safety doesn't have anything to do with the roster.

Express Gun Locker in Hesperia (High Desert) has one in stock. At least they did when I drosed a new gun there last week.

I would be all over one if they didn't have that ridiculous manual safety. Maybe S&W will get smart and remove it on certain models. When they do, I will buy one.

Sweet. This handgun is on my short list. I really want to fondle it side by side with an xds-9. Not sure I'm that patient, tho.
