Glock 30

Thinking of getting a glock 30 in .45 ACP. It will be for home defense and carry gun when i move to Arizona next year. Anyone have experience with the Glock 30?

Had one, got rid of it after a few hundred rounds.

Grip didn't really fit my hand, either in length or in height. The magazines with the pinky rest do make a difference in the height, but the grip is still too fat for my stubby li'l booger hooks.

Recoil was quite snappy, also - it's quite a lightweight gun. I'd much prefer a full steel .45, or even an all metal 9mm, over another G30.

I do. It's an awesome gun, provided you like Glocks to begin with. I almost ended up with one when I bought my 21 years ago. It is a very soft-shooting .45 due to the dual spring assembly. It is just about as accurate as the full-size model 21. ( Actually, many people claim better accuracy with the 30). My little brother has one and I love shooting it. We shoot it side by side with my full-size .45, and I'm telling ya, the Glock 30 is a great gun. I love my G21, but the 30 is a NICE piece. I'll probably get one myself one of these days

Love my G30SF! Soft shooting gun and for being a "compact" Glock, still holds 10 rounds of .45ACP. It's small enough to carry concealed and still big enough for anything else you might need it for.

Google: "Massod Ayoob" and Glock 30 and you'll get a pretty good result search. Many gunfighters swear by the pistol.

The G30sf was the most accurate Glock I owned. I think you'll be as pleased shooting it for the first time as I was.

Nice gun. Don't be fooled by the subcompact label. It's still a handful.

I finally got to the range and tried out a 30 and 36. I wanted to like the 36 - single stack, thinner, etc. but I shot the 30 a lot better. I have the same problem with my dad's SIG. I guess I am just used to the thicker GLOCKS. The recoil wasn't horrible - it was easily controllable.
+1 on the size, it's about the same size as the GLOCK 19 (compact, not subcompact).

Love mine as well. It's the only Glock I own, because of ergos, and it doesn't really feel great in my hands, but I enjoy shooting it very much. Accurate, as others have stated, and reliable. Hard to beat for the purposes you mentioned.

Marketed as a subcompact, but it is really the size of the G19/23, which are compact models.

Nope, the SF models are just as plentiful, or that has at least been my experience.

I went into my LGS with the intent of picking up another G19, but I asked the guy behind the counter if they had any police trade-ins (ProForce-Brea, Ca). They said they actually just got in a G30SF. I fondled it, asked the price ($335!!!!), and before I knew it I was filling out the DROS paperwork. Damn you Glock!!!
