I was at the range today practicing with my m&p 9 fs. I shot to slidelock and slapped in the next mag. Usually with an m&p when u load it with a little force it goes into battery and chambers a round. This time i slammed the 17rd mag in a little harder than i normally do and the slide went forward but it didnt chamber a round.
I tried with a few of my other 10rd mags and they all worked as expected even when slamming them a little harder than normal. Went back to the 17rd and it kept doing the same thing. If i seat the mag normally it works fine but if i go just a little harder it wont grab the round.
Its not a huge problem, i know i shouldnt seat them super hard, but this has never happened before.
When i got home i decided to try it with my other 17rd mag which i leave loaded at home for HD. I slammed it in and this time the slide didnt even go forward and the mag got stuck. Had to forcefully pull it out.
So i know i shouldnt seat them so hard thats obvious, but could there be another problem here? For the record all mags were thoroughly cleaned before range trip because i dirtied them up at uspsa last wknd. All gun internals look normal.
Also worth noting that i disabled mag disconnect awhile back, it has fired maybe 500 rounds flawlessly since then.
So again, am i just slamming them in too hard or could i have a problem here?
Thanks for any input.
