    New XD single stack .45

Anyone had a chance to fondle/shoot one yet? GunsAmerica just had a blog article that says they are finally shipping.

I'm thinking of getting one for pocket carry rather than a 5 shot revolver that I now use. As a lefty, if I ever needed to reload the revolver in a hurry, the bad guy would have time to go make a sandwich while I fumble through the process.

Just kidding, but at best it is cumbersome and slow. My wife just got a small 9mm for pocket carry and I'd like to have one in .45. Her Kahr disappears in my pocket and I'm hopeful that the Springfield will do the same. On crazy hot summer days, pocket carry works best for me.

    Any news on these yet?

I got to fondle one at SHOT show, it's pretty damn nice. It feels great being so slim since polymer guns don't gain extra girth from grip panels, overall nice move by SA.

I handled one at EBR Works on Tuesday. I was surprised at how small it is, certainly no bigger than my Kahr K9, and I would say narrower. It's significantly smaller than any compact 1911 I've ever seen.

Michael over at EBR has several on order and is working on SSE kits for them right now. The gun will not be on the CA approved roster.

Held one at PRK today. Really liked it - almost the same size as my LC9.

It needs a magazine disconnect mechanism and engraving on/near the loaded chamber indicator, and it can qualify for testing.

But, not sure how motivated Springfield Armory or HS Produkt is in doing that.

If there was graphical/text warning engraved on/near the loaded chamber indicator, then it would qualify as a "chamber load indicator".

The magazine disconnect is the deal breaker. It is a terrible idea that most manufacturers have, IMO, correctly refused to implement. With the SSE option it becomes a moot point anyway.

We are taking deposits on these now. Our first shipment of guns sold out in one day. We'll have our SSE kits ready to go in about 3 weeks.

I have personally put about 100 rounds through my XDS and I'm very impressed. Even with energetic SD rounds it is very controllable. It's a terrific little carry gun and fits nicely in the holsters that I already have for the LC-9/Lasermax.

Of course we are. We don't sell guns that can't be sold to the public. Every single gun in our shop is available to the masses

(Just to be clear, this OBVIOUSLY doesn't include suppressors )

In fact, just the other day we got a NAA 22mag that was the off roster version... promptly sent it back. If everyone can't have 'em, we won't carry 'em (except for Blue Label Glocks, but that's just a pricing issue)
