    Scored a Semi-Cool Old Smith

Well, not really old, just '69-'70.

But it was a "Metropolitan Police Department, Washington, DC" sidearm.

    Bought it right, too.

      Sorry, Model 10

      Round butt, pencil barrel

Someone must've done action work on it.

      Trigger is superb.

Nice M10, the bluing in the first pic looks really deep and highly polished.

Congratulations! I have some trouble identifying the older Smiths.

I have a 95% plus Model 19-5 in gun jail right now. Blue, 4" barrel with target stocks.

              Thanks
The bluing is pretty decent for a 40+ year old department issue piece.

It's clean. Should be a great shooter.

Nice find! That looks like the same model I carried as a Navy military policeman in Alameda around 1984-1986, but ours weren't nearly as nice as yours is. Someone took good care of it.
I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!

You can't go wrong with old S&W revolvers. The factory stands behind them if you need parts and they shoot great.

^^^This. I would call that VERY cool!

Trigger/action work? Maybe, maybe not. Those old S&W out of the box will shame just about anything being made today.
