    RIA 1911 finish

    Hi,

I went to turners today to pickup my RIA 1911 GI, and found that the brand new gun has lot of scratches on it. Turners agreed to get me another one, does all the RIAs come with some kind of finish imperfections?

    Thanks

Yes the finish is poor but it does not reflect on the reliability.

Mine was clean from dinks or scratches but at about 2k or 2.5 k rounds I dropped it and put a tiny scratch in the serations not to noticeable but its a gun and its ment to be shot doesn't have to look purdy. I mean look at the ppl that shoot the hipoint's

Mine was oiled down too, but they do scratch easy just add oil it will wipe right off. Now if your talking about gashes that different!

The factory finish is garbage, I'm going to come right out and say that. I noticed the finish wearing off the edges of the slide after two trips to the range with the gun. Its not a big deal, it is a <$500 1911 after all. Never had a single problem with the gun, so I would have to guess that they went cheap on the finish to keep the price down on their reliable guns. I will say that I almost never see a thread on 1911forum about a real problem with an RIA/Armscor 1911, but tons of problems popping up, especially within the "break in period" of the more expensive guns. I'd take a 1911 with a poor finish over a 1911 with poor reliability any and every time.

Enjoy your gun when you get this issue settled, like most of us I am sure you will love it.
