S&W Model 65 Question

Got some questions about the S&W Model 65 in 4" and Stainless

1) I believe it's on the CA list but can anyone confirm?

2) Heard shooting too much .357 will wear out the revolver, is this true?

3) Is $300 too much for this used (Police Trade-in)?

Only the 65-7 and 65-8 are on the list. All other dashes cannot currently be shipped into the state.

The 125 grain 357 mag. loadings can be rough on a K frame. This load can lead to heavy wear on the frame.

Depending on condition of revolver, 300.00 would not be a bad price in this state on a older model 65.

I agree with what Stevie said above. You didn't mention if the gun is in California already, or out of state. If it is in California and privately owned, you can buy it in a private party transfer. You just can't buy it from a dealer if it is not on the list.

$300 is a good price for a model 65.

It's was an out-of-state gun; I will have to see if ther eis a 4 or after the 65 dash.

The Model 65 4" was my first gun I ever bought. I lived out of state at the time and bought it at a gun show. When I moved to CA I didn't bring it with me, because I didn't want to register it.

It is a great gun with a great S&W pre-lock trigger. I too have heard heard about being careful to not shoot all full .357 loads. I usually just shot .38's, but have shot a few full power .357's. I think i paid about 300 for mine. You should definitely get it at that price.

You cannot buy and bring that into CA unless you are a dealer (FFL) or Law Enforcement. That specific Model 65 is a pre-lock (*) and is not legal for the average CA civilian to buy out of state and have shipped in, sorry. It is perfectly legal in other states, just not ours.

I would call buds and see if any of the trade-ins are of the 65-7 or 65-8 generations, which are the only ones allowed to be purchased here other than through private party transfer.
