    Magazine Rebuild Kits

Saw rebuild kits being included in pistol sales in private sales forum, one was a 33rd rebuild factory kit, I thought anything about 10 rounds wasn't allowed in CA lol? Little confused since I only work in CA now.

Anyone clarify? Are they fine to own as long as they aren't assembled?

It's not a magazine. It's just parts. If you put it together, then you are "manufacturing" and that is illegal. The "idea" is to use the parts to rebuild 11+ round magazines that you own legally but that need new parts. It's legal to keep them functioning so you buy a rebuild kit to do this. Or, you can just buy a rebuild kit whether or not you own any other magazines and assemble it when you leave the state. There's no law preventing you from owning spare parts of any sort, just laws preventing you from importing, selling, loaning, or manufacturing (or causing one of these things to happen) an 11+ round capacity magazine. Note that there is also no law preventing you from owning or using an 11+ round capacity magazine, regardless of when it was made or how you got it as long as you did not do one of the above-mentioned things. So... if you looked in the attic of your house and the previous owner left an 11+ round mag up there, it's yours and you can use it. If you find one in the woods tomorrow, it's yours and you can keep it and use it.
