    S & W Model 19

Am I missing something or is this model not legal in California?

Yes, I did look at the Department of Justice list.

The answer is -- sort of. The model 19 is an older K frame S&W made from 1957 to 1999. then in stainless as the model 66. The model 66 was discontinued in 2005.

So, if you can find a model 19 made before 1962, it's C&R and therefore roster exempt. There are model 66-6 and 66-7's on the roster.

Remember a handgun is not illegal unless it violates the AW laws. But, off roster means your best path to get one is to find one for sale in Ca and doing a PPT through a dealer.

It's out of production as a model 19 -- even if the roster didn't exist, you'd have difficulty finding one.

Just check gunbroker for "pre 19" and by that. It will be c&r and roster exempt.
