    TCA Barrel and Forend Search

I have been chasing my tail around eBay with minor success. A recent find was a 12" tapered octagon TCA roll marked barrel without a forend. The 12" length was nicely different from the normal 10 & 14's. It has a single barrel lug ~1.75" in front of the hinge pin lug to mount the forend. The seller of course said forends were always available for about $10......... right. :-)

So my question to those that are familiar with the Contenders is this: Is the forend for a 12" tapered octagon unique or will a 10" round taper fit reasonably? I have only been at this quest for a short while, but the local 'smiths or shops are drawing a blank on the specifics. S&W CS is not much help as they only seem to know what is printed on the screen in front of them. Unfortunately, my original walnut bits are for the Super 14 barrel - double lugged - and absolutely won't fit.

To make the cheese a bit more binding, would prefer composition or rubber to wood account wear and tear. Worst case, I may be whittling down a carbine forend. Would appreciate your thoughts and any POC's would be most helpful. Starting to search national. Thanks much.
