The most reputable would be Will O'hara, and Alan Tanaka. Further North in the Valley, you have Jim Hoag.

Alan Tanaka in Gardena. He does some damn good work on 1911s. He did a trigger job and polished/fine tuned internal parts on my new Colt 1911. You let him know what you want and he'll do it. Any of the guys Press Check mentioned are the most well known. I only have experience with Alan though.

Yep. Have had work done by all three. Trust all three. Enjoyed the level of customer service provided by all three. I'll also add in Dave Lawver of Dave's Metal Works in Covina to this list.

I didn't just do a trigger job and a couple of the jobs were quite some time ago. I suggest you contact them. They're all very friendly. Your typical trigger job from a gunsmith with a solid reputation is going to run anywhere from $65-100 on your existing trigger depending on who you go to. Turn around time is anyone's guest. All of these guys are popular and busy. You need to give them a call.

I had mine back from Alan in about 4 weeks I think. That was back in February. He installed/fitted a new shorter trigger, did a trigger job, and an action job. That all cost me $150. Dont quote me on it lol, but i think Alan charges like $65 for just a trigger job using your existing trigger. Give him a call or email him. He's pretty easy to get a hold of.

Generally, you can expect to pay in the realm of $75 (median price) for a standard trigger job. With the existing components, you can expect the pull to be reduced to 4lbs, and under those circumstances, I would strongly recommend providing the Pistolsmith with a quality sear spring. Since a good deal of the reduction comes from adjusting the sear spring, having a sear spring that will maintain constant tension is paramount.

For a reduction beyond 4lbs, a complete organ transplant is required. Most Pistolsmith's will require a tool steel sear and hammer, NM trigger, etc. For that, you can expect to pay in the realm of $200.

                  Turn-around time shouldn't exceed 7-10 days for a stand-alone trigger job.
