    Thoughts on Sig 2022?

New member to Calguns and first thread,So I bought my first handgun( cz75 p-01). And thinkin of my next handgun as a polycarbonate( anything BUT a glock, dont ask, i just dont like em) Looking seriously at the sig 2022 in either .9mm or .40. I love the feel and the shot of the p226/229. Any similarities? I'm ignorant to sigs and love em, just a bit pricey and I know these are a bit cheaper and just as good. Wish I could shoot one, my range does not have em for rent. I'd love as much info as possible!! Please and thank you!!!

The 2022 may have a $400 price sticker, but it is no bargain basement Sig. That weapon has the same quality and refinement as its metal-framed cousins at half the price.

I liked my example, just try to find one to rent so as to verify the ergos work for you.Its worth a drive to sort that out, as I sold mine because I intended it for CCW, and using a thumbs forward grip results in my support hand squarely resting on the slide lock , preventing it from locking to the rear on empty. I couldn't find a way to hold the gun without that slide lock being a problem, but that's nothing against the qualities of the firearm itself.

DA pull is heavy, but its buttery smooth. Single action is a crisp break, and hands down I consider it to be the best polymer frame trigger action on the market from the factory.

I love my sp2022 in 9mm. The only downside I see is that additional magazines for 9mm are 3 time the cost of a .40/357 magazine.

@silvertauron: I'm not meaning to downplay the quality, just asking people's opinions. I do know the quality they put into their guns, it's why I want one lol. But can't afford a new p226/8.
@doomed: I know the feeling. My cz mags are pricey as hell.

Now my next question as I know it's preference anyways, Another .9mm? Or a .40. I want a .40, but already having a 9 it'll save my butt on ammo price wise. I want the .40 stopping power though. Yarrrg decisions decisions.

I love mine... Yes I also have some issues with thumbs forward grip, I tend to touch the slide lock as well, and under rapid fire have had it not lock back... However, I think it is one of the best looking polymer framed guns on the market, I know that is a secondary thing, but I will keep mine forever because it just looks freakin cool!

It is also very accurate, 20 shots in semi rapid fire (1 sec cadence) from 15 yards, produce these results for me... Better than some guns, worse than others, but I feel confident enough to bet my life on this gun.

I love mine in 9mm, several thousand down the barrel with no issues.

Good to hear your opinions!! Helping me mold some sort of choice... So I'm definitely going with a .40 for my next purchase.
Now I'm looking for someone in the la/ valley areas who own one in a .40 to go shooting with to test it out.
@dakin surf: are you in sb County? I drive up frequently and can meet up if at all possible.

I realize this is all personal opinion, so just make sure you like it before you buy it. A lot of people are quite unhappy with its performance given that it is a "Sig".
The bore axis is quite high compared to some other polymer guns (glock, m&p, etc). Which makes rapid fire recoil mitigation a bit harder than those guns mentioned above, but it just takes some training. However the trigger is one of the best I have ever fired on a polymer gun (most polymer gun triggers feel like toys to me, so I was pleasantly surprised by 2022 trigger in general, in fact I had a p226 with a worse trigger before it got sent back to sig for work.) And as far as subpar quality parts? Explain please... I was quite pleased with the quality of the gun overall.

The 2022 is my next purchase and when I test fired the weapon I was very impressed by the trigger and the ergonomics. I have large hands and it fits really nice for me.

Both very different animals but great firearms nonetheless. It does seem to have a long trigger pull, longer in DA but its manageable and I group better shooting it DA.
