    g22

So I bought a g22 its in jail now I realy wanted a 9mm but I can do a convertion barrel right or can I just drop a g17 barrel in it. The reson is that the 22 was a pd trade in an 200 bucks less than the g17 otd so I guess what what I'm asking is
What is the best way to convert a g22 in to 9mm?
Who makes a good after market barrel?
    Have you done it yourself?

Ps this is not my first glock iv had many a few years ago

go to glockstore.com. they have a couple of conversion barrels for sale and a few are drop in. i bought one for my G23. just remember you will have to use G17 mags. good luck and have fun. when I take my G23 out start out shooting 40s&w then switch out the barrel and shoot 9mm.

I also wanted to ask why do I have to use a convertion barrel?

I think it's because if you use an ordinary Glock 17 barrel, the extractor won't work reliably.

I've heard that before to. It seems some people dont need to and some do. I've seen people do a barrel swap and keep shooting, but that was a couple years ago before they redesigned the new MIM extractor. It may work the same or not....

Just be warned that any type of customization, especially caliber conversion, may limit the reliability of your firearm. Had a .40SW to 9mm coversion barrel and had a lot of failure to extract and feed. ;( Got rid of it and ended up with a Glock 17.

            Good luck with yours.

Because the breach face and barrel OD dimensions are not the same.
