Colt python 357

I had one as a kid in1976. Should colt start making them again? Why did they stop?

I don't know why they stopped but I can hazard a guess.

Too expensive to make so asking price is high, S&W are easier to work on and cheaper, Colts aren't (very few good Colt gunsmiths). It is a beautiful design and you should try to get one used if you don't have one.

I know this is going to be blasphemous, but having shot both S&Ws and Colts with good trigger jobs, I'd rather shoot the former in a match. More predictable pull, faster trigger without stacking. But when I am shooting little targets at 50yd, the 6" Colt comes out of the safe.

A semi-intelligent person with a training video/book, some gunsmithing skills and good tools can work on a Smith. I wouldn't crack open a Colt in a hundred years...better let an expert deal with that.

From what I've read theres a lot of hand-fitting needed on the Python. Can only imagine what one would cost today with all that labor involved. I hear Colt is circling the drain and might be bought up or out of business soon so it doesn't look good for a new Python. too bad.

Where did you hear this? A quick google search shows rumors about this from the past 12 years, all of which proved unfounded.

Yes, the M4 contract went to Remington, but I would assume Colt will focus more on civilian sales

I've read a lot about this here by people who have read/understand their annual reports and other financial disclosures. Other sites have discussed Colt's woes too. I hope Colt can someday get it together.
Colt re-released the Mustang .380 so maybe theres some hope for the Python. Classic looking revolver. I shot one years ago and remember it having a really smooth action.
