    PPT pistol DROS question

I yesterday bought a shotgun from a pawn shop for a project to tinker with. I did my 4473 and I just have to wait my 10 days. Now I may have a lead on a pistol i have my eye on but it would be a PPT between me an the other cal gunner. My question is (I think I already know but want to verify before I waste this guys and my own time) can I do a PPT for the handgun before my 10 days are up on the shotgun? Like if i was to purchase the handgun tomorrow would there be any issues with DROS? I think not but just want to verify. Thanks in advance.

You can PPT as much as you want. Only restriction is buying a handgun from a shop every 30 days.

Yes u can, PPTs are exempt. You could even buy a new handgun because long guns don't count against 1 in 30

Sort of. As a seller, you are limited to 5 PPT transactions per year. As a buyer, you are not limited, although large numbers or very frequent transactions can draw some attention.

Interestesting. I never knew there was a limit as a seller. I've been slowly selling off my gun collection to help my daughter with her grad school expenses. I'll have to plan better so I don't exceed the limit. What happens if you try to sell number six? Does the DOJ nix the transaction when the sixth firearm being sold is DROSed by the buyer?

It's five transactions, so you can sell more than one per transaction. It also goes by the calendar year.

              It's a misdemeanor.

Don't forget that there is a 1 in 30 handgun restriction within Los Angeles city limits.

Handguns. Other firearms are vaguely listed as "infrequent".
